So on point. My dad’s philosophy is something like, parents should tighten up the rope so kids “don’t escape” but then they should lose the ropes to give them freedom. It’s all a matter of balance.

am a living example of this 🙂 who, inspite of being with parents who claimed to have loved me to ends, saw how they couldn’t be strong themselves in difficult times, and never allowed me to grow the skill needed to survive on my own. and I was also a fool waiting for them to teach me 😛 .

True if my mom controlled me like todays moms ,i would have committed suicide 11100 times.Todays Moms are uffff too much yeh kar woh kar-cant leave them for a single second.

Amazing article. I think it’s also fairly common for parents to not really “be” there for their children. They’re so busy trying to provide for every materialistic need that they fail to share real life realities and lessons. And they are so tired by the end of the day that all they want is their child to stop throwing a tantrum… by providing yet another meaningless materialistic distraction.
