It&#8217;s almost as if I access Corner House in some other parallel universe, haha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ever since I went gluten free, I miss good cakes. I have a friend that makes me lovely plum cakes and brownies, but you know, CAKES. I miss them, and I missed this one the most. And then I chanced upon <a href=\"https:\/\/nuttyyogi.com\/products\/gluten-free-baking-flour\">Nutty Yogi Baking Flour<\/a> and decided to make one and voila, it was soooooo good! (PS: I am NOT promoting them or being paid for this, come on, this website is not <em>that<\/em> popular hahaha). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"632\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/74c83f68-d2a7-4551-bc33-0cdf3ff38436.jpg?resize=474%2C632&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/74c83f68-d2a7-4551-bc33-0cdf3ff38436.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/74c83f68-d2a7-4551-bc33-0cdf3ff38436.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/74c83f68-d2a7-4551-bc33-0cdf3ff38436.jpg?w=960&amp;ssl=1 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption>French Apple Cake<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>50gm butter, melted and cooled<br>1\/2 cup sugar mixed with 1\/2 tsp cinnamon and a pinch cardamom pd<br>2 eggs<br>1\/2 tsp vanilla essence<br>1.5 cups flour whisked with 1 tbsp baking powder and 1\/4 tsp baking soda<br>3 apples, peeled, cored  (2  chopped, 1 sliced)<br>Milk, probably 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. <\/li><li>Grease a 8-9 inch pan and layer the sliced apples on the bottom.<\/li><li>Mix butter and sugar together until creamy.<\/li><li>Add eggs, vanilla essence and beat until fluffy. <br>It might seem to curdle, that&#8217;s ok, add a spoon of flour in that case and continue whisking.<\/li><li>Fold in the flour, mix milk until it is a batter consistency.<\/li><li>Toss in the chopped apples, pour into prepared pan.<\/li><li>Bake for 40 till an inserted toothpick comes out clean.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Serving Suggestion:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I like to serve this hot with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To make salted caramel sauce,<\/strong> melt 1\/4 cup sugar until it starts turning light brown, add 2 tbsp butter, let it melt and combine, Add a heaped tablespoon of (room temperature) heavy cream while continuously stirring and boil for about a minute.
