{"id":244,"date":"2014-12-13T10:39:14","date_gmt":"2014-12-13T10:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/?p=244"},"modified":"2016-02-15T10:56:13","modified_gmt":"2016-02-15T10:56:13","slug":"capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala\/","title":{"rendered":"Capsicum, Drumstick Flower Masala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-265\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala.jpg?resize=474%2C251&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala.jpg?w=1200&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala.jpg?resize=300%2C159&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala.jpg?resize=1024%2C542&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ashwita.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/capsicum-drumstick-flower-masala.jpg?w=948&amp;ssl=1 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n<p>6 big green bell peppers (capsicum) de-seeded and cut into cubes<br \/>\n1 onion, cut into large pieces and separate the layers<br \/>\n\u00be cup drumstick flowers, stem removed and washed<br \/>\n1 potato, peeled and cubed<br \/>\n2 cups water<br \/>\n2 tbsp oil<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp cumin seeds (<em>jeera<\/em>)<br \/>\n1 bay leaf (<em>tej patta<\/em>)<br \/>\n2 pods cardamom (<em>elaichi)<br \/>\n<\/em>salt to taste<\/p>\n<p><strong>For the masala:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 tsp poppy seeds<br \/>\n1 tbsp white sesame seeds<br \/>\n6-7 cashew nuts<br \/>\n2 tbsp peanuts<br \/>\n2 tbsp grated coconut<br \/>\n1 onion, chopped<br \/>\n1 green chili, chopped<br \/>\n1 tomato, chopped<br \/>\n2 tbsp ginger garlic paste<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp turmeric powder<br \/>\n\u2153 tsp red chili powder<br \/>\n1\u00bd tsp coriander powder<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp garam masala powder<\/p>\n<p><strong> Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dry roast the pea nuts for about 8 minutes, add cashew nuts, poppy seeds and sesame seeds till they lightly brown, add grated coconut and stir for another 3 minutes. Remove and put on a plate to cool<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add 1 tbsp oil to the same pan, fry the finely cut onion and green chilli. When the onion browns, add the ginger garlic paste and fry for a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add the tomato pieces, stir and cook till it is cooked. Add all the masala powders (ingredients # 10 to 13), and cook till it starts leaving the sides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Remove from the flame and let it cool completely<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grind the dry roasted ingredients and the onion tomato mixture with a little water to a smooth paste<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat the pan again with 1 tbsp oil, add jeera, bay leaf and cardamoms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When the cumins splutter, add the cubed capsicums, potato and drumstick flowers and fry till the capsicum pieces soften.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add salt and 1 cup water.
