This quick recipe makes a very yummy breakfast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can buy rava idly mixes in the market. I used to. Until I turned the packet over and read the ingredients. These rava idly packets are charging you for pouring some oil and spices over rava! It&#8217;s crazy! That was absolutely the last day I bought a ready-to-make rava idly pack.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ingredients:<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1 cup semolina\/\u00a0<em>suji<\/em><br \/>\n1 cup sour curds, or\u00a0\u00bd \u00a0cup thick yogurt<br \/>\n\u00bd \u00a0cup grated carrot<br \/>\n1 tsp grated ginger<br \/>\n1-2 green chilies<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp cooking soda<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For the tempering:<\/strong><br \/>\n2 tsp oil<br \/>\n\u00bc tsp mustard seeds\/\u00a0<em>rai<\/em><br \/>\n\u00bc tsp cumin seeds\/\u00a0<em>jeera<\/em><br \/>\n1\u00a0tsp black gram\/ <em>urad<\/em> dal<br \/>\n1 tsp bengal gram\/\u00a0<em>chana<\/em> <em>dal<br \/>\n<\/em>a pinch of asafetida<br \/>\n1 dried red chili, broken<br \/>\na sprig of curry leaves<br \/>\n2 tsp broken cashewnuts<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">water, oil, salt as needed<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Equipment:<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Idly molds<br \/>\nSteamer<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recipe:<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Heat oil and add all the tempering ingredients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add the\u00a0<em>suji<\/em> and roast until fragrant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let it cool a bit, and then mix it with curds, chopped green chili, ginger and grated carrot. Add water if needed, to make a thick batter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let it sit for 20-30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add salt and cooking soda and mix the batter well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prepare the steamer. If you are using a pressure cooker, remember to remove the vent, pour about an inch of water inside, and bring to a boil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pour the batter into greased molds and steam for 10 min. Let cool for\u00a05 minutes before you take them out of the molds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Serve hot with chutney and sagu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am an idly lover.
