Refined flour is too sticky for the intestines to process, and it compromises\u00a0the functions\u00a0of the small as well as the large intestines quite drastically, leading to poor absorption of nutrients, and obesity among many other problems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In most dishes, you can replace it with whole wheat flour and get away with it. Except cakes. And that is why these few cakes where you can easily make a switch without much ado, are a blessing.<\/p>\n<p>Preparation time : 20 min<br \/>\nBaking time : 10 &#8211; 12 min<br \/>\nMakes 12 muffins<\/p>\n<h3><b>Ingredients: <\/b><\/h3>\n<p>1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)<br \/>\n1 tsp baking powder or \u00bd tsp baking soda<br \/>\n3 tbsp cocoa pd OR raisins<br \/>\n\u00bd cup sunflower oil<br \/>\n1 cup sugar<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp vanilla essence<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n\u00bd cup milk<br \/>\n1 over ripe banana, mashed (Optional)<br \/>\n2 tbsp nuts or chocolate chips (Optional)<\/p>\n<h3><b>Method:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Preheat oven to 180\u00b0C\/ 350\u00b0F.<\/p>\n<p>Sieve the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder together, or put them in a bowl and whisk to remove lumps.<\/p>\n<p>Mix oil and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla essence and beat until fluffy.<\/p>\n<p>Add flour and milk alternately, gently folding it in. Do not beat anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Finally mix in raisins, banana, nuts or chocolate chips.<\/p>\n<p>Grease the muffin trays and fill up to half with batter.<\/p>\n<p>Bake \u00a0for about 10-12 min and remove from tray after cooling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve reduced the entry of\u00a0maida\u00a0(refined flour) into my house to quite an extent.
